The Uses of Preposition

The Uses of  Important Prepositions 

🎯At, In : বড় জায়গা বা ব্যাপক সময়ের বেলায় in ছোট জায়গা বা নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে at.

➟ For example: I live at Dhanmondi in Dhaka. I will go there at 1600 hrs in the evening.

🎯 In, Into: স্থিতি বোঝাতে in গতি বোঝাতে into. 

➟He is in Singapore now. The dog fell into the ditch. My sister lives in Peris. He rushed into the room.

🎯 At, on, In: নির্দিষ্ট সময় at, দিন বা তারিখ on, মাস বা বছর in. 

➟He was born at 1500 hrs on Sunday in June in 1980. I shall meet you on the 15th July.

🎯 In, After: অতীতের সময়/পরে বোঝাতে after; ভবিষ্যতের সময়/পরে বোঝাতে in.

➟ He came back home in a week. He will come back home in a week.

🎯 By, With: যে নিজে কাজ করে তার আগে by এবং যে বস্তু দিয়ে কাজ করা হয় তার আগে with.

➟ The snake was killed by Richard with stick. Robert was killed by himself. He sees with his eyes. I cannot write with your pen.

🎯 In, By/Before/Within: ভবিষ্যতের কোন সময়ের শেষ পর্যন্ত বোঝাতে in এবং সেই সময় শেষ হয়ে যাওয়ার আগে by/before/within.

➟ Example আমি সাত দিনে কাজটা শেষ করবো। I will finish the work in 7 days. আমি সাত দিনের মধ্যে কাজটা শেষ করবো I will finish the work within 7 days or by 7 days.

🎯 Beside, Besides: Beside পাশে থাকা বোঝাতে sit beside me.

➟ He was all along beside me. Besides বেশি থাকা বোঝাতে Besides this pen I have another one. Besides this reason, there are many more.

🎯 Between, Among: দুইয়ের মধ্যে বোঝাতে between, দুইয়ের বেশির মধ্যে বোঝাতে among.

➟ Divide the apples between Rafin and Rayan. Meet me between 9 and 11. Hassan distributed the prizes among the participants. The remour has spread among the staff.

🎯 Since, For: নির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝাতে since অনির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝাতে for. 

➟Julia has been sick since Monday last. Kathy has been sick for three days.

🎯 In, On, To: সীমার মধ্যে in, সীমার উপরে on, সীমার বাইরে to. 

➟Saderghat is in the south of Dhaka. The Buriganga is on the south of Dhaka. Zinzira is to the south of Dhaka.

Preposition of Time:

🎯 বছর, মাস ঋতুর বেলায় In হবে- ➟in ২০০৬, in Winter/Summer, in July, in the 21st Century.

🎯 এক সপ্তাহ বা তার বেশির বেলায় In হবে-➟ in the Easter holiday, in the Summer term.

🎯 দিনের একটি অংশের বেলায় In হবে➟ in the morning, in the afternoon.

🎯 দিন এবং তারিখের আগে on হবে➟ Rafin was born on Wednesday. Rayan was born on the 12th October.

🎯 দিনের নামের সঙ্গে দিনের একটি অংশ উল্লেখ করলে তার আগে On হবে।➟ On Wednesday morning, on Friday evening.

🎯 ঘড়ির সময় এবং খাবারের সময়ের আগে at হবে➟ Christy will come at 6.30 pm, Kate is at lunch now.

🎯 This, next, last, tomorrow, yesterday, every ইত্যাদি শব্দের আগে সাধারণত In, On, At ব্যবহার করা হয় না➟ I will see you next Friday. She came back last night. I saw her yesterday. We go there every summer/ winter. The party is tomorrow evening.

🎯 দুই বা তার বেশি দিনের বেলায় At হবে; ➟at Easter, at Christmas, at the weekend যদিও আমেরিকায় on the weekend বলে।।
